Rosemary Vail moved to Stratford in 1976 and is the wife of Norm Vail. She took pride in raising her 4 children, Kevin, Danielle, Chris and Cyndi in Stratford and loves to be a part of the community. In addition to her 4 children she finds great joy in being a Grandmother to Kayla, Shaun, David, Kennedy, Alexis, Emersyn, Kelsey and Aubrey.
The early days, she was an assistant to her husband within his Chiropractic Business. Knowing that she wanted to involve herself in her childrens’ schooling and activates she became the Treasurer and parent helper within Festival City Nursery School and was involved with the PTA and volunteering programs at Falstaff Public School and later Central Perth Elementary School. In addition to various volunteer programs, Rosemary was a member of I.O.D.E Festival Jubilee as program/fundraising chair and organized their Buckle- Up -Baby Program.
For over 6 years, Rosemary was a volunteer with the help hotline, Telecare. This was a very rewarding experience as she was making a different for people within her community. Telecare was a program designed to help individuals in distress and Rosemary knew that sometimes just a good listening ear was all a person needed.
In 1989, Rosemary became a Contact Guider for the 3rd Stratford Girl Guides and was able to build the unit from 2 girls to over 25. Rosemary enjoys planning the weekly curriculum which included, crafts, games, sing songs, outings and camping. Rosemary took a brief break from guiding only to return in 2002 to assist with the 12th Stratford Girl Guides. In 2010, Rosemary was nominated and received “The Gold Unit Guider Award”. The Unit Guider Award is granted by the Administrative Community and is presented to a Unit Guiders who: provide girls with diverse and exciting programs and opportunities that will help them achieve greatness.
In addition, Rosemary became the Community Guider for Stratford; This is a liaison position and is responsible for recruiting new Guiders and Guides, handling conflict with the local community and strengthening unity within our Guiding community.
When Rosemary’s youngest daughter entered elementary school, she obtained her Real Estate license and later in 1992 her Brokers license. Over the past 30 plus years in Real Estate she has been an active member in the community. Proudly supporting being a realtor in this community she calls home. Here is just a few of the achievements Rosemary is very proud of, Office representative for “The Children’s Miracle Network”. RE/MAX is proud to be the exclusive real estate sponsor to the Children’s Miracle Network. Locally, funds raised are donated to “The Childrens Hospital of Western Ontario” in London. Over several years, she was able to convert the office into a “Miracle Office”. This means that every sales person within Re/Max ab Realty Ltd. contributes and supports “The Children’s Miracle Network” by pledging an amount of money from each transaction that they are involved with to “The Children’s Miracle Network”.
Was a member of the Huron Perth Association of Realtors, for 2 consecutive three year terms. Her duties ranged from Program, to Finance, to Rules and By-laws.
Heavily involved with “The Canadian Breast Cancer” Association. Losing her mother at a very young age to Breast Cancer made a huge impact on her. For over 5 years, she was involved with “Talking Step for Breast Cancer”, organizing and providing refreshments and tasty treats for the participants at their annual fund raising walk in St. Marys. Funds raised from this event are donated to Research to help find a cure for Breast Cancer.
Was the office representative for “Sold on a Cure Program” for many years. She supports the local RE/MAX offices to embrace their communities and help fund the fight against breast cancer!
Spent several years as a committee member of “The Braz for the Cause”, Stratford Chapter. Monies raised by Braz™ directly supports breast cancer patients by providing short-term financial aid for those with a demonstrated need and undergoing breast cancer treatment.
Supports the “Relator Care Program”, within this program funds are donated to assist with Building Habitat Homes.
Most recently, Rosemary has been involved within her Church to raise funds to renovate the nursery and construct 2 new bathrooms. Through fund raising ideas such as selling Elmira Chicken, poinsettias, Easter bunnies, Stews Blues nights and Moms to Moms Sales events, the committees was able to raise this money in a very short period of time.
Rosemary has been volunteering within the Church weekly at their Thrift Shop “The Alley” on the cash or pricing new donated items in preparations for sale. These funds are used to pay the general expenses of the Church.
She also has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Rosemary takes great pride in being a member of the community. She thrives in leadership situations and enjoys knowing she is making a difference.
In 2011 she won the Volunteer of the Year award for the City of Stratford.
